I guess the Royal Family is the ultimate safeguard against a Prime Minister or Government going berserk. The Queen vetoes any PM candidate, and can choose to make PMs resign, or even stay on in power. Heck, during the 50s the Queen apparently almost staged a coup; because of concerns that the then-current PM, Harold Wilson, was a Soviet spy. But don't go thinking that the Queen can just go waltzing in and take over everything, the Armed Forces for instance are under control of Parliament; not the royalty. EDIT: She also has a very important role in that of being the Head of State. Most of the royalties time is taken up with formal visits, diplomacy, etcetera etcetera..
I figured there wasn't a lot of hugs going on in that house.!

Mercedes Benz has been keen on getting into F1 with its own team since the early 90's.Nevertheless, this in an interesting move for Mercedes. Especially when all the other big car manufacturers are leaving (BMW, Toyota) or thinking about leaving (Renault) F1. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Obama gets into office and oversees an $800 billion "stimulus" stimulus package that drives unemployment to over 10%, proposes a health care plan that will cost far beyond the $1 trillion that's been quoted and bails out banks & nationalizes a couple of car companies and now has the GALL to say "deficits are bad"?!?!?!?3 more years of this amateur hour might be more than the country can take. The 2010 election is more important than ever to put a check on this insanity.
